PICS-FALCONS ANNOUNCE GIRLS PROGRAM MERGER

JOINT STATEMENT FROM JUNIOR PICS AND JUNIOR FALCONS

 News Item: March 10, 2007

Two locally based hockey organizations have announced today that they will merge their Girls Hockey Programs for the upcoming playing season in 2007-2008.   The Springfield Jr. Pics and the New England Jr. Falcons agreed to merge the programs to allow more girls wishing to play ice hockey in a competitive environment an opportunity to participate in a larger program that will provide the potential for National bound competition and also develop them for both Prep School and College Careers.

The programs have agreed that the teams will all be named Springfield Jr. Pics teams.  Since the origins of the New England Jr. Falcons program started with the Pics, this change makes good sense locally and throughout New England. The Jr. Falcons are thankful to Bruce Landon of the AHL Springfield Falcons for the use of his logo over the past two seasons and the merged organization will continue to support Mr. Landon and his AHL franchise in as many ways possible.

The Girls program will hold tryouts for the new season teams during March 30 through April 1. A detailed schedule is provided below.

Teams will be rostered at the following levels: U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, and U-19.

Anyone wishing to Coach in the program can download an application from the Jr.Pics website and forward it to the address listed.

An evaluation committee made up of the prospective coaching staff will be formed and once players are selected for teams, Coaches will be named to the respective age groups.

The newly combined Board of Directors for the Girls Program, with equal representation from each organization, feels that in a transition year this is a fair and equitable way to hold tryouts and staff the teams.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer at tryouts is also welcome.  This is a great day in Western Mass for girl’s hockey and we look forward to a long a successful track record of producing quality hockey teams in the future.

NEW ENGLAND JUNIOR FALCONS AID VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
News Item December 28, 2005
The New England Junior Falcons participated in a community service activity to benefit the Network Against Domestic Abuse of North Central Connecticut Inc.   This project began late November and ended with a collection at the Enfield Twin Rinks on Dec 6th and 7th.   HOLIDAY GIFT GIVING PROJECT 2005.jpg (133493 bytes)Each of the thirteen teams within the organization, from our youngest players to our Juniors, sponsored a child ranging in age from 20 months to 16 years old.  Wish list items, including; clothing, toys, jackets, hats, mittens, scarves, underwear, socks, blankets, pillows, hygiene items, puzzles and many more items, were collected for each child.
Too often the holidays become more about what we are getting rather than what we can give.   Team members from both the boys and the girls program clearly demonstrated that it is more meaningful to give to those individuals experiencing difficult times.
The shelter provides crisis counseling and support, emergency shelter, counseling and support groups and victim advocacy.

To:  All Participants, Parents, Managers, Coaches who assisted with the Holiday Gift Giving Project
The FINAL festive looking bag, full of new gifts has been delivered!!!!  Great Job Falcons!!!
I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you who participated in making this "Holiday Gift Giving Project" a HUGE SUCCESS.  We had participation from all 13 teams in the organization and collected well over 200 gift items, including; jackets, boots, hats/mittens/scarfs, underwear, socks, pajamas, blankets, pillows, puzzles, toys, hygiene items, games, sheets, books, ETC....  I know that there will be 13 very happy children out there.

The Network Against Domestic Abuse was overwhelmed by our kindness and generosity.   You should all be proud of your efforts.  It was a great feeling for my family and myself to have been able to be apart of this.  I hope the feeling was mutual amongst everyone.

Please pass along a huge "THANK YOU" to anyone I may have missed.   Thank you to everyone who assisted in the collection at ETR and the delivery.   This was SUCCESSFUL only because you ALL stepped up and made it happen.

THANK YOU AGAIN and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
